Select the orchestra that is best for you:

Prelude String Orchestra - for string players who read music and have completed half of Suzuki Book 1 or equivalent. Generally, for students with less than 2 years of experience.

Intermezzo String Orchestra - for intermediate string players

Full Symphony - for more advanced musicians. String players should be able to play 5 scales in two octaves and shift to third position or higher. Wind and brass players should be intermediate level or better.

Rehearsals are on Thursdays, September through May. The Prelude String Orchestra meets from 4:30-5:30 pm, Intermezzo meets from 5:45-7:00 pm; Symphony from 7:15-9:30 pm. Scholarships are available.

NJIO was formed in 1994 to allow musicians of all ages and ability the opportunity to experience the joy of making music together. This allows for developing musicians to interact with and learn from more experienced players in a friendly, non-competitive environment. Our repertoire is focused on classical music.
